birthday pancakes

jake loves the "happy birthday" song. so sunday morning, we got up and made pancakes. jason put some candles in the middle and we sang the song. jake loved it! then it was time to get ready for church.

our church always sings to those with birthdays- so jake walked to the front of the church and everyone sang to him. he was eating it up. afterwards, bob took the grandkids into the choir. he usually holds jake while they sing- and jake usually just sits there and plays with his tractor or snacks on whatever is left of whatever he grabbed while running out of the house. well not sunday, he knew it was a special day and so he chose to sing. the hymn as well as the entire choir was slowly drowning out. and what was he singing? the birthday song!

our valentine's party at church

Robin and I were trying to snap a picture of Jake and Gracie Claire on the bench after the party, but they weren't having it. Of course, Jake was so hyper. He feeds off large crowds of people and gets louder and louder. It is as if he is scared somebody won't notice him- like he's not wild enough! So Jason intervened with the infamous spoon and popped Jake on the behind- notice Gracie Claire's face. She didn't know what to think after that happened. I couldn't get her to smile again. She just had that terrified look on her face, like Jason was coming after her next.

Robin and I have recently started a Sunday School class for Jake, Gracie Claire, and Katie. Well my two sis-n-laws were in with their kids this weekend, so we had Brooke Lynn, Breanna, and Jacques as well. I think we may have gotten a little loud- really Jake got a lot loud! During church, the preacher asked us young mothers not to be discouraged about Sunday School and that it would get easier. He said that we were doing the right thing and that this is where the kids belonged, regardless of how loud or crazy it may get. I turned and looked at Jason and said you know he is talking to me. I guess the adult class heard me take Jake outside for a spanking during Sunday School. I was so embarrassed.

WeeCare Party

I got a sub for a couple of hours Friday and went to Jake's Valentine's Day party at WeeCare. I had such a good time watching him play with all of his buddies. I haven't had the opportunity to go to one of his parties in the past, but I plan on attending more of them in the future. There are so many kids that go there and I don't know half of them. The last two pictures are of Ryder, Jackson, and Jake. Those three stuck together for nearly the whole thing. They said they were digging for worms, gross! Guess I have a lot of that to get used to.

ready...set...three

This is Jake's party invitation. He was so excited when he saw them, but I think he was a little confused. Maybe he was trying to remember when he took a picture with lightning mcqueen. Everybody should get them soon. I sent them out today. -and yes I have been working on his party for the last three hours. Yes-I know I'm crazy, but it's just something I enjoy doing for my baby boy! Good Night!

jaxun & jake

this is my nephew, jaxun. he is candice and todd's middle son. they've recently moved to shreveport so jake and jaxun don't get to see each other as much as they did before. so this was a special treat for jaxun to come spend the night. they were so excited. there are only six months difference between the two of them so they play well together. jake calls him his brother-we try to tell him that they are cousins, but jake insists they are brothers:) there was not a dry spot in the bathroom when those boys got out of that tub! oh, that is a sponge bob razor that jaxun is using on jake so don't worry!

nothing runs like a 2 year old!

These were taken from his 2nd birthday party. He was completely obsessed with tractors- so it was an easy choice for his theme.

rubber ducky, you're the one!

These are a couple of pictures from Jake's first birthday party. It was such a cute party. We had a lot of fun with it- or I did anyway!

jake's birth-day

Jake was born on February 22nd, 2006 at 7:45 p.m. He weighed 8lbs. & 9oz. and was 20 1/2 inches long. He will be three this month.

Well I guess it's true what they say about children growing up too fast. Jake's first three years have come and gone in what seems like the blink of an eye. It's really sad. As a teacher, I find myself wishing for Thanksgiving break, then Christmas, Spring Break, and of course summer vacation. Then I realize that in a way, I'm sort of wishing our lives away. Over Christmas vacation, I promised myself that I was going to stop over loading myself at school. I told myself that I had to leave school by 4:00 everyday and that has helped tremendously. I mean sometimes you just need to get away from that place. Now I get to pick Jake up earlier and we have more play time! It's much, much better!

daddy & jake's tractor shed

Jake got a barn from someone for his first Christmas. Okay not someone, he got one from Mrs. Vicky at the CowPen. Yes-we have a waitress at the CowPen and yes-we go so often that she buys Jake birthday and Christmas presents. She totes his around while we are there and tells people that she has been waiting on him since he was in his momma's belly. Anyway, back to the barn. The barn came with a few blocks and Jake has played with those blocks ever since. He says he builds castles, but poor thing only had like 10 blocks. So when Brandi asked me what Jake needed for Christmas, I told her a set of blocks. He plays with them everynight. He builds barns, castles, houses, but this was his first tractor shed. I feel so bad I let him go so long without blocks. What kind of mother am I?
