jake was so funny on this day...for some reason we had all of the cars in the bathroom and he wouldn't let meridith leave. she kept trying to tell him bye. he would kiss her bye and then pull her back to the floor- that went on for a while.

my father-n-law...
saturday morning, i helped lacey with her booth at catfish fest. i left jake with jason to tend to. well, next thing i know- bob and ray are on their way to catfish fest with jake! i mean what were they thinking? you don't take my jake to places like that. he was extremely hyper and didn't want to be held or to hold a hand- so this was bob's idea...

don't know if you can really see, but bob took an ink pen and scribbled his cell phone number across jake's entire arm! -so someone would know who to call in case he was to get lost. -as a mother, this really gave me a peace of mind! sometimes i wonder about the two of them off with jake without me. i think they underestimate jake sometimes...and the stuff i know he can get into.

our little mishap...

yesterday- i decided i would go pick jake up from weecare and bring him up to the school for a little while. he loves going to "mama's school". i took him to my classroom and let him get a juice and a snack. i grabbed my copy folder and we headed to the lounge/copy room. he sat on the couch and ate his snack like such a big boy. i only had a few papers to run- so i knew we wouldn't be long. He got bored after a few minutes and wanted to cut. i gave him some scrap paper and a safe pair of scissors to cut with...he got bored again. he saw a dog playing out the window and ran over to watch it. There are three extra desks pushed up against the wall in the lounge. well, jake decided he would stand in the seat of the middle one- which was fine- until he decided that he would stand on the writing part. well of course- it flipped forwards and jake flipped backwards. i'm still not sure what he hit on the way down. (either the floor, baseboard, or other desk) well, he starts screaming and jake is such a tough boy. -he rarely cries over pain...he'll whimper a few seconds and that's about it. i ran over and was trying to calm him down by telling him he was fine- keep in mind that he was still face down on the floor. i grabbed his arm and went to pick him up and my baby was covered in blood. i've never seen so much blood. it wouldn't stop bleeding and i grabbed my phone and ran to my room to get my keys. i called jason as we were getting into the car and said meet me in the emergency room. i was crying and freaking out and hung up on him- no telling what he thought had happened. well- he beat us there. jake had settled down by this point, but his little eye was filled with blood. you couldn't even see the white around his eye...it was horrible. we went in and were seen pretty quickly- the doctor came to clean it up and bandage it while we waited to go get the cat scan. i nearly passed out when i saw the gash. he was fine though...not even upset at this point. then the x-ray girl brought a wheelchair for him to ride to the cat scan room in- he loved this. we had to persuade him onto the bed and she had to show him how it worked first- but my baby was a brave boy. we went back into our room and waited for the results. well- all was fine. they said that the part that was cut was a part of his head where his bones were still young and had not grown together yet...guess this is why it went so deep. he really did need stitches, but she felt that would have been too traumatic for him. they ended up doing the derma band which is the glue. this was the second time jake has had derma band on his face. we spent father's day two years ago in the er because he fell out of his high chair and his bottom teeth went through his lip. he has a little scar from that incident- so i'm sure this one will leave one too. it is about 1 1/2 inches long and just barely cuts into his eyebrow. anyway, after his red popsicle- he was good to go. this was a long post, but i've had to tell the story several times so thought this would save me from having to explain it again and again. although, i do appreciate everyone who called to check up on us...i have great friends :)
-these pics are from my cell phone, so they really aren't the best...sorry.
- and yes, aunt connie...that is a pie in his mouth and i was thrilled we had one in my purse. he sill takes one when he gets upset.

breanna came to town!!!

this is my niece, breanna. she came to og this past weekend to spend the night with bob. i heard she was bribed with a cell phone to get her to come over. she never comes to og to stay unless her mom comes too- she's a major mama's girl! - plus she looks just like her. a lot of people think jake looks like breanna did when she was younger. they do have a lot in common...dirty and loud! :) but i had to take a picture of the two- no telling when jake will get the chance to play with her again.

...and she's gone
mom had an early flight this morning- so she spent the night in monroe last night. these are a few pictures we took at the house last night before she left. we had a nice time while she was home. we didn't get too much time to visit because she was getting things ready for the wedding, but still- it was nice. just got off the phone with her and she's back- safe and sound!

(his eyes look a little red- allergies were acting up)

jake & parker
these are a few pictures i took of jake and parker yesterday evening. parker is meridith's step-son. jake absolutely loves playing with parker and wants to go see him everyday. parker and jake share their fascination of tractors together. parker was actually the one who introduced jake to "dirt". we don't have much dirt at the house to play with, but jake does haul the gravel around in his tractors and trailers. -but parker has built a miniature dirt track and jake thinks its the bestest thing ever. i've never seen two children so different in age get along so well together. jake is so calm and polite when he plays with parker. there are six years between the two of them- same as me and meridith. we nearly killed each other growing up- no seriously, i'm not kidding. anyway, i thought these were too cute and had to share! :)

2009 farming season has commenced...
well, jason started planting his corn yesterday. i usually don't get out to the field very often (especially when it gets hot), but i like to take pictures of their first day planting and their last day cutting. or i guess i should say i'm not summoned to the field very often- that is until its the dead of summer and i'm being asked to deliver sonic cokes and honey buns. i think it's really going to be a lot more fun this year since jake is a little bigger and will be able to do more with them. he was so excited when i picked him up from weecare. i told him he was going to ride the tractor with tommy ray- but i had to run home and get my camera first. he didn't even get out of the car and didn't move the whole way to the field. he was so excited that he tried to jump out of the car down the turn road before i could get stopped.

daddy's birthday cake
i made a cake for jason's birthday saturday morning. yes, jake and i got up bright and early and headed to the store to get the ingredients. we were very proud of ourselves. this is an orange mandarin cake- jason's favorite. i haven't made one of these since his 2006 birthday and it was a complete disaster. i ended up making it three times that day and it was a major tear fest! part of that was probably due to the fact that i had a week and a half old baby in the next room. i couldn't think straight and kept leaving out ingredients. anyway, i decided i would attempt the impossible and i think it turned out great! i think more oranges ended up in jake's tummy than in the mixing bowl. jake didn't understand why we couldn't go ahead and dig in- daddy wasn't home yet!
oh, this had nothing to do with the cake- but i thought it was too cute so i decided to share it with you. everyday we go through family members with jake and their names. he tells us his name, mimi's name, nana's name and so on. well today, jason was teaching him grandma's name- which is ellen hamby. jake thought about it for a few seconds and then he said it -ellen hamby. -but what he is really saying is elephant candy! it sounds just like elephant candy, i mean he says it so clear and perfect...elephant candy! it is so funny to hear!
