as many of you already know- jake had surgery on wednesday. he had his tonsils and adenoids removed. he also had his sinus cavities and ears flushed. we had to be there at 7 am for time to prep him before surgery. the nurse brought in a cup of liquid medicine that i had to give him. she said it should take about 5 min to knock him out- for them to put iv in. well 15 min went by and jake was bouncing off the walls- of course- typical jake! so they took him back and put the gas mask on him to make the iv process easier. the surgery only lasted about 40 min. they put him in a recovery room for about 30 min to monitor him as he woke up and they gave him the max amount of demerol they could give him. they came to get us and i could hear him moaning down the hall. when i entered the room- he went nuts- like a wild monkey. we had to restrain him for a solid hour and a half. jason had one arm, i had one arm, and meridith had his legs. they had to give him another shot of the pain medicine. he wanted the iv out of his arm and he wasn't stopping until he got what he wanted. he screamed and cried the WHOLE time. finally he asked me to hold him and we sat in the chair and he passed out. from that point on it was pretty easy. they came to the conclusion that it took a little more medicine for jake- since he's a big boy and solid. he drank a can of sprite and half a can of coke and ate a few french fries. we were home by 3:30.
he is still not back to normal "jake" mode- but doing better. he's actually on the tractor with jason right now. all he will eat is yogurt, but he is drinking and the nurses assured me that drinking was the most important part of it. he just doesn't have his appetite back yet. anyway- thanks for listening and thanks for the prayers!

I'm so glad Jake is starting to feel better! I had sinus surgery in '03 when I was 18 and it was the worst feeling in the world, so I can only imagine how rough this must have been on Jake. Ya'll are in our prayers.
